Breast Cancer Costs

On average, we tend to suggest setting a fundraising goal of around $20k to help patients offset costs.  However, we have some information below to help guide you in setting a goal that is right for the beneficiary.

According to data from the National Cancer Institute, breast cancer patients with insurance on average pay $34,979 out-of-pocket for care related to treatment in the first year and $3,539 per year for continuing care. But remember, these numbers vary quite widely.

Without insurance, the total average costs of breast cancer treatment during the first year are:

  • Stage 0: $60,637

  • Stage 1 and 2: $82,121

  • Stage 3: $129,387

  • Stage 4: $134,682
